The Toyota iQ is the smallest production four-seater in the world, a revolution in tiny transportation for the masses. Unlike a SMART car, which only seats two, the iQ can fit three adults and a small child, or three adults and some tiny luggage. The iQ is already on sale in Japan and will be available to customers in the UK early next year. It is expected that the iQ will enter production in the US either as a Scion or the next generation Yaris in the next two years.
The Cadillac Converj is still just a concept. Even though I'm far from the only motor journalist to have gushed over the star of the North American International Auto Show, General Motors' brass hasn't given a production version the green light. To refresh your memory, the Converj is a sexy 2+2 coupe riding on a version of the Chevrolet Volt's Voltec platform, powered by a 16 kW set of lithium-ion batteries with a 1.4-liter four-cylinder engine for recharging purposes only. We'll have more details in an upcoming issue of Motor Trend magazine and of course here at MT.com.
One obvious issue regarding its green light: the Converj is a two-door coupe. My kind of car. And the kind of car designers love to draw.
The Persu three-wheel hybrid has a uniquely devoted following. Persu needs to strike the iron while it's hot: if this vehicle does land in the $25,000 range, it will be an extremely expensive hybrid of limited practicality trying to find a market in a depressed economy
Washington, May 21 (PTI) India and Pakistan have begun trading intelligence on Islamic extremists, as a result of the prodding by the US, paving the way for an unprecedented cooperation between the two nuclear-armed South Asian nations. The CIA arranged for New Delhi and Islamabad to share information on Pakistan based Lashkar-e-Taiba, the group blamed for last November's terrorist attack on Mumbai, the Wall Street Journal reported citing US officials.
The two countries are also trading information on Taliban commanders who are leading the insurgency against Pakistan's government.
"America hopes that when India and Pakistan see that they face a common threat in Pakistan based militant groups," the paper said and quoted US officials to say this could make Islamabad put more focus on the battle at home.
"We have to satisfy the Mumbai question, and show India that the threat is abating," the official involved in developing Washington's South Asia strategy said.
India and Pakistan traded military threats across their border in the wake of the Mumbai attacks, in which terrorists left more than 170 people dead.
Intelligence sharing on Mumbai has led to a somewhat more frequent exchange of information, US and Pakistani officials said. India and Pakistan have shared "a lot" of information with each other about the Mumbai attack, said an official at Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence spy agency.

Mumbai: It seems the cold-war between Shweta Tiwari and Cezanne Khan is not over yet. The lead actors, who rose to fame with their stint in Balaji's successful show Kasauti Zindagi Kay, shared cold vibes on the sets of the show. It continued even after the show was over. Now, Shweta has done a cameo in the TV adaptation of Seeta Aur Geeta, in which Cezanne plays a pivotal role. Needless to say, the audience wouldn't see Shweta and Cezanne in the same frame.Shweta Tiwari
A source says, "When the production house approached shweta for making an appearance in the show, she made sure that she wouldn't be sharing the same screen-space with Cezanne. Now, she has completed the shoot and Cezanne is nowhere in the picture."
The cameo role is for a dream sequence where Shweta plays the girl Raka (Gaurav Dixit) wants in his life.
Producer Sunil Bohra says, "Yes, Shweta has shot for our show. When we approached Shweta, wetold her that her scenes are with Gaurav Dixit, the second hero of the show. She would be playing the dream girl of his life and her scenes would be only with him She really liked the character and gave her nod."
He further adds, "We are very happy to have her in the show considering the fact that, she doesn't do cameos in shows usually. She agreed only because making a TV show out of film is such a rare phenomenon in our country."
But what about her making sure that Cezanne is not in the picture? "I don't know about all that. All I know is that she has shot separately with Gaurav Dixit. Cezanne is yet to shoot with us," he ends.
Despite repeated attempts, Shweta was not available for comment.
Johannesburg, May 21: Bollywood star Shilpa Shetty will join American R&B sensation Akon as he sings his Grammy award winning 'Smack That' at the closing ceremony of the Indian Premier League (IPL) at the Wanderers here Sunday night.
Organisers also said here Wednesday that Katrina Kaif will join a troupe of Indian and South African dancers led by award-winning choreographer Shiamak Davar to perform the Oscar-winning AR Rahman song 'Jai Ho from 'Slumdog Millionaire'.
The two actors will be the only ones performing at the finale, ending widespread speculation here that a bevy of Bollywood beauties would feature at the closing ceremony.
Caribbean music legend Eddy Grant will perform the ever popular 'Walking on Sunshine' and his anti-apartheid hit 'Gimme Hope Jo`anna', which became an anthem in the days when the white minority government of South Africa strictly regulated everything from music and song to social gatherings.
The five-week IPL will end on a high note for Shilpa performance-wise, but this will be clouded by the fact that her Rajasthan Royals team have no hope of retaining their champion status from the inaugural series last year.
Other highlights on the night will include a perfectly synchronised piece featuring renowned percussionist Shivamani and a group of Indian and South African drummers.
Apart from the various musical acts, the crowd will also be introduced to the Miss Bollywood IPL South Africa finalists, culminating with the crowning of the winner of the beauty competition, who will get a guided tour through Bollywood as one of her prizes.
This apart, 1,500 flying lanterns will be lit and released while a thrilling pyrotechnics show using several thousand rounds of fireworks will light up the Johannesburg skyline as final awards signal the end of an unprecedented cricket event which was keenly taken up by locals, who also opened their hearts to the thousands of Indians who came to watch the series.
