I Want To Adopt A Girl: Rajeev Khandelwal

Television heartthrob Rajeev Khandelwal, who wowed critics and audiences in Aamir, has a new woman in his life and says he would love to father a baby girl whenever he settles down in life.

"I love families and kids. I would love to be a father and carry my daughter on my shoulders when I go for work. I love baby girls," Rajeev, who is returning to the small screen as a reality show host, said.

Currently he is doing his bit to fulfil his desire by sponsoring a girl child.

"If given a choice, I would love to adopt a girl. But it's a great feeling to even sponsor and support a girl child - it's as good as being a father to her," he said in the interview.

Rajeev, who was earlier in a relationship with actress Aamna Shariff, his co-star on hit daily soap Kahiin Toh Hoga, admits that he now has someone special in his life.

"Yes, I am seeing someone right now. But she is not from the industry," he said, refusing to reveal her name.

He, however, stressed that marriage was not on the cards for him any time soon.

"I've always intended to settle down with every girl I have dated in my life. But I have left it (marriage) on life. Whenever life pushes me into that direction, I will do it," he said.

Rajeev said he decided to make a comeback on the small screen to host the new reality show Sach Ka Saamna because it dealt with emotions of everyday life and presented people who could own up to the truth fearlessly.

Sach Ka Saamna, the Indian version of internationally known show Moment of Truth, will reward contestants for their courage to speak the truth about their personal lives on national television. The format and the content of the show is what drew Rajeev to the show.

"I could relate to the questions asked in the show. They are somewhere related to every person's life. That was one reason I agreed to the show besides the fact that it applauds those who can own up to the truth not fearing the consequences," he said.

Apart from the show Rajeev has a few Bollywood projects lined up too - British filmmaker John Owen's Peter Gaya Kaam Se and Saurabh Narang's Return Gift.

Rajeev had won the hearts of many women during his first stint on TV and the list only got longer after he entered Bollywood. The actor says he absolutely loves the adulation he receives from his female fans, though it is "difficult to stay grounded" at all times.

"There are lots of women who make me feel special. But I have always known it's not for me but for the characters I play. It's not that I'm a great looker, a great speaker or a great actor - but somehow I'm told that you are liked by the fairer sex and it gives me joy.

"I love it when any woman looks at me, smiles and I know it is genuine. It feels good. Imagine 10 women looking at you when you go in the lift - it becomes very difficult for me to stay grounded in such situations," Rajeev said.

In fact his fans have given him so much love by way of gifts that the actor didn't have to buy a single object to decorate his living room.

"My house is loaded. My living room has been done up by my fans. It's like an Archies Gallery - full of teddy bears, souvenirs and statues of gods. Though I don't believe in god, my house has about 85 statues of Ganesha. People have been extremely kind to me," he said.

Ghana oozes with Affection For Obama

Richard Zangba waited for six hours Friday night and another five hours Saturday morning to catch a glimpse of Barack Obama’s African homecoming.

When the American president’s motorcade sped by the crowd waiting outside the conference center in Accra, Ghana’s capital, Saturday, Obama gave a brief wave through a heavily tinted window.

Zangba, an 18-year-old from a small town in Ghana’s Upper East Region, whooped wildly.

"He is a great African," he said.

A day earlier Obama landed in hana for a 24-hour visit. It’s his first trip to sub-Saharan Africa as President of the United States.

The streets in Accra were lined with signs welcoming the Obamas. Vendors made a fortune selling their Obama wares. By Saturday, those who hadn’t bought an Obama shirt were being handed ones adorned with his picture.

Many Africans expected Nigeria, the continent’s most populous country, or Kenya, the land of Obama’s father, to be the president’s first stop.

While an Obama sighting was hard to come by, the people in Ghana were oozing with affection for America’s first black president.

Friday night, 68-year-old Feea, Daughter of Zion, arrived in Accra from Jamaica for a three-day visit, just to see Obama."I couldn’t miss him coming to Africa," she said. "This is a great moment for us as a people. It used to be impossible for a black man to become president."

Under a light drizzle and the night sky, people frantically searched the airport Friday night for the best spot to see Obama. When a handful of Ghanaians strayed from the crowd everyone followed.

Zangba, hesitated to move from his station at the front, but thinking he was missing his chance to see Obama, he broke into a sprint.

"Obama is here!," he shouted.

But it was a false alarm.

The crowd met a police barricade and turned back.

A young boy, dubbed an Obama-look-alike, was interviewed by a television reporter and swarmed by a mass of amazed Ghanaians. Later, the boy had to seek police protection.

When the crowd heard the roar of a plane engine around 9 p.m., people rejoiced. The hustle for a better vantage point intensified.

In the end, the crowd never saw Obama, yet the mood remained festive.

On Saturday Obama addressed Ghana’s parliament in Accra, but the crowd of about 200 people outside the parliament wasn’t the throng one might have expected.

Only those with good connections or wily enough to outfox Ghana’s police got near the site.

Zangba was one of them. He took a taxi to the lightly policed back entrance where he waited patiently for a crowd of people to distract the officers. When they did, he scurried past to join the crowd.

The rest of the people roamed the streets in confused excitement. Wearing Obama shirts, toques, buttons and belts, people were eager to see the president’s motorcade, but most Ghanaiains’ hopes for an Obama-sighting went unfulfilled.

Not everyone was eager to see Obama.

David Pessey, of Ghana’s National Reform Party, believes Obama’s just a fresh face for the same American policies: "He’s riding a tiger."

Pessey suspects Obama visited Ghana in the hopes of placing an American military base in West Africa. But Zangba isn’t worried about America’s foreign policy.

Inspired by Obama, the recent junior-high school graduate dreams of becoming Ghana’s president.

"Obama gives us all hope that we can do anything. He gives us encouragement to lose our inferiority complex," Zangba said.

David Kumagai is a journalism student at University of King’s College. He is an intern at a radio station in Ghana this summer.

Obama's Books:
"Each day, it seems, thousands of Americans are going about their daily rounds--dropping off the kids at school, driving to the office, flying to a business meeting, shopping at the mall, trying to stay on their diets--and coming to the realization that something is missing. They are deciding that their work, their possessions, their diversions, their sheer busyness are not enough. They want a sense of purpose, a narrative arc to their lives, something that will relieve a chronic loneliness or lift them above the exhausting, relentless toll of daily life"
Meetups address people's very specific needs (such as to learn a language, to get fit, or to succeed at business), but they also address this need that Obama writes about. People sometimes walk-on-air after a Meetup because they feel welcomed and part of a community. People also feel an incredible sense of purpose when a Meetup Group gels and realizes its unique mission

Couples & Married

We asked our users to tell us what they felt to be the most important key to a successful relationship. Below are a few of the responses:

1. "Dialogue. As soon as it is present, everything is possible." -Paceline Jean

2. "I think the most important key to a successful relationship is when you truly enjoy each other's company." -Anne Engle

3. "I think the key to a successful relationship is to love them with all your heart, and to always show them that you do. And of course to always be honest!" -Kathy Wierzbicki

4. "Trust, good communication and a lasting friendship. I have been married to the same man for 19 years. We have survived infidelity, separation, financial woes, illnesses, etc. Through it all we managed to trust each other enough to be honest and truthful about our infidelity by communicating peacefully. When we both thought that the love was gone, we found a rare and beautiful friendship in each other, which held the marriage together. Today, we are very happy as a family with three children." -Jan Vega

5. "Commitment is the greatest key to a successful relationship. If you are committed you will always find a way to work things out." -Anonymous

6. "I think it is friendship! You can love someone like that and still be best friends and it's the best. Plus if they are your best friend, can't best friends stay best friends forever? If you just love someone for their physical aspects, there's no friendship or similarities between you except that." -Alane

7. "Passion. Without feeling passionately towards your mate the communication, sex, intimacy, and ultimate closeness will not be there, which in turn leaves each partner wanting/needing more from the relationship than they are getting. I know because I've lived it. My husband and I had everything. Money, companionship, friends, a home, great jobs, but we didn't have passion. We were basically friends. Friends are just that friends... husbands or wives should be in love and life partners... that doesn't happen without feeling passion for the other person." -Laura

8. "Communication... talking and open honest communication about how you feel. What makes you happy and what upsets you. If you don't tell your partner then they can't do what makes you happy and vice versa." -Greg

9. "The way a person treats his/her parents reveals how they WILL treat you! If it's with love, kindness and respect, then this is what you will receive. But if it's with criticism, defensiveness and disrespect, then this too you will receive... EVENTUALLY... it's almost certainly a guarantee! So watch and listen to the answers you get in their actions and words BEFORE you jump into bed!" -deb

10. "Communication. In many instances, 'communication' can be used in place of 'relationship'. If you withhold something from your spouse or lie to them, the communication (or relationship) has ended. If you chose not to be truthful, because you're afraid they may leave or be upset, you've got nothing to lose -- the relationship is already over. You may continue to go through life together, but you'll never have a 'relationship'." -Eric Hill

11. "I feel that a relationship should always be based upon honesty and acceptance. When you can fully accept yourself, honesty will come naturally. This in return will leave your partner feeling comfortable with you, knowing there is nothing to hide. If two people can see each other in full view with complete acceptance, they can build a successful relationship from this." -Sarah

12. "I believe that the most important 'key' to a successful relationship would have to be 'trust'. I believe that with trust, love will follow. However, what I have noticed is that many people think trust, or expect that trust is to be earned by the other person, when in all actuality it is something that comes from within yourself. All too many times people will say they don't trust due to past experiences. What they don't realize is that they have built up those proverbial walls to protect them from the very thing they are searching for... yes, there is a risk in trusting someone, but when you finally find that 'right' person, it makes all the past experiences and lessons learned very much worth the risk. All of life's little lessons do not have to be painful... even when they seem so at the time. You just have to chalk it up to experience and move on. Nothing is worth closing your heart. Nothing is worth living in a world of fearing what bad 'may' come to you. Without trust, you close your heart to the happiness and joy that true love brings. It's only my experience... and it's what I believe has given me the wonderful gift of 'true' love. It's a hard thing to do, a scary thing, but very much worth it. This is not to go without saying that some people may betray your trust... that's the risk... but why allow past betrayals to prolong the pain by building a fortress around your heart that not only protects you from pain/betrayal, but also denies you the ability to experience happiness and joy? Most have been hurt enough by one person, why allow them and their actions to stop us from finding what we search for? I say open your hearts to trust and bask in the beauty, happiness, and joy, of the true love that will follow. For everyone there IS a someone, you just can't find them if you hide away all your life..." -Adrienne

13. "Not expecting your partner to think and react to things the way you do. Resolving any conflict in your relationship depends on this. It's important to respect your partner's feelings, even if they are different from your own. If you and your partner both do this you can usually resolve bad situations, even if you still don't see eye to eye at the end." -Yolanda Iniguez

14. "The most important 'key' to a relationship is not worrying about how long it will last, when it will or won't end, and enjoying every moment possible together." -Kathy

15. "The key is to be understanding. Nobody can change their personality, so we simply have to try to understand each other as we become closer." -Lauren

16. "Always showing you love each other all the time by celebrating on different occasions like the first time you met each other." -Darnell James

17. "Validating your partner's feelings. It's so important to be heard in a relationship even if you do not agree with what is being said." -Robin

18. "Friendship is most important in any relationship. I feel that if you can't be friends first what chance do you have at being lovers? With friendship you have to have trust and respect. You have to like the person you're friends with to get along together. Once that is accomplished falling in love with them is just an extension of friendship, only stronger and better. Like the foundation of a brick house, love must also have a foundation. That foundation is friendship. You must have a strong foundation (friendship) in order for love to withstand the test of time." -zanfair

19. "The most important key to success is making sure you call the person you care about or love, and be there whenever he/she needs you. Just care for that person with all your might." -Eva

20. "Quality time spent together, pillow talk, one on one, being open about everything." -deanna

Indians And Pakistanis, Are The Same: SRK

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan pitched for greater harmony among South Asian people as he accepted an honorary doctorate from a British university, saying governments were best left to their own "agendas".

"We belong to - I know it's a bit of a cliche but - one world. Specifically I think, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka all of us, we're the same. I really believe we are the same," Khan told journalists after being made honorary Doctor of Arts by Bedfordshire University.

The doctorate in recognition of his "exceptional achievement as a film actor and producer", was proposed by an Indian NGO called Routes 2 Roots, which works to bring South Asians together.

"My mother is from Hyderabad in India and father is from Peshawar (in Pakistan). So I do believe in this (cultural unity).

"Especially when you come away from India or Pakistan you realise there is no Indian or Pakistani, we're all together. We are - culturally, as human beings, as friends. These are the aspects that keep us together.

"As far as the (government) agendas are concerned, let them go on."

Invited by a Pakistani journalist to visit Pakistan, said: "I also do wish to go there - my family's there."

Earlier, in his acceptance speech, Khan said he was inspired by the doctorate to work for the education of poor children in India.

"While this honour is bestowed on me, I wonder if the deserving but poor and underprivileged children from India can also pursue their higher education in such universities and maybe earn a doctorate as well.

"This thought has been weighing heavily on my mind and I am hopeful that I would be able to contribute to this cause in the future," he added.

India Is Worst Terror Victim, Must Help It: John Kerry

Washington, July 08: The US, it seems, has finally seen what we have experienced over two decades. Noting that no nation has suffered more from terrorism than India, Senator John Kerry has demanded that Washington should extend all assistance to it tackle the menace.

"First, we have to help India break with the perilous politics of South Asia's past," said Senator John Kerry, chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee Tuesday at the confirmation hearing of Tim Roemer as the new US ambassador to India.

The noting comes on a day that for the first time in history, Pakistan accepted it had nurtured terrorists.

“Let us be truthful to ourselves and make a candid admission of the realities. Militancy and extremism emerged on the national scene and challenged the state not because the civil bureaucracy was weakened and demoralised, but because they were deliberately created and nurtured as a policy to achieve some short-term tactical objectives,” The Daily Times quoted President Asif Ali Zardari, as saying.

"India needs no lectures. Virtually no nation has suffered more from terrorism than India, he said. "South Asia is also a volatile nuclear flashpoint."

That said, Kerry has played a major role in tripling US aid to Pakistan to fight terrorists. Those funds, recent Pentagon reports suggested, had been diverted to arming the Pak Army against India.

The recently passed Kerry-Lugar bill to triple US non-military aid to Pakistan to recast US relationship with Islamabad, "wll help us to secure the long-term safety not only of the US and Pakistan, but of India as well," Kerry said.

Kerry, a former Democratic presidential candidate who visited India shortly after the Mumbai terror attacks, said: "I know the volatility that was felt then. But the degree to which there is still an excessive focus on India-Pakistan border issues is really almost an anachronism in today's world. And we need to work to move beyond that."

If confirmed, Roemer will be representing US at an exciting and potentially pivotal moment in US-India relations, he said "the Obama administration has a genuine opportunity to forge a true strategic US-India partnership, not as a threat or counterweight against any other nation but based on shared interests and shared values."

"If we get this right, it will benefit not only our nations but also the region and the world. There are many areas where we can make real progress," Kerry said.

He and several other senators had supported a civilian-nuclear deal with India, in part because it will help India grow its economy with clean energy, he said. "I hope this will now open the door to greater cooperation on non-proliferation."

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Kerry said, "will be carrying a message of friendship, to India, during her visit later this month to engage with India's newly re-elected leadership."

When Saif Couldn’t Grab Deepika In His Arms

While shooting a romantic scene in Love Aaj Kal , Saif Ali Khan was supposed to grab a falling Deepika Padukone in his arms. But he misjudged.

One of the subplots in the film by Imtiaz Ali has Saif playing a Sikh man named Veer who falls in love with a Punjabi beauty Harleen Kaur. There is a sequence in which Deepika (playing Harleen) gets drunk at a Punjabi dhaba and dances atop a table.

While dancing she loses her balance and falls towards the ground. Saif was supposed to grab her mid-way in his arms. But perhaps the actor was nervous or he mistimed, he failed to grab the falling Deepika while shooting the scene. Consequently, the actress almost fell on the ground. Saif, however, managed to grab Deepika’s dress and save her from hitting the ground.

“Fortunately, Saif managed to grab the end of my kurta and I didn't hurt myself badly,” Deepika tells a tabloid.
The actress is planning to hold a special screening of the film for her family and close friends. She even plans to invite Shahrukh Khan and Farah Khan (who introduced her in Om Shanti Om ) to the screening. Ranbir Kapoor , of course, will be invited too

Michael Jackson's Last Act

Michael Jackson spent his final night alive in his favorite spot on Earth: the stage. He did a full run-through of his planned comeback concert. He and his company -- dancers, musicians, singers, aerial performers, choreographers and costumers -- planned to fly to England early next week for final dress rehearsals at London's O2 Arena, the site of the pop superstar's 50-night sold-out run.

By lunchtime Thursday, Jackson was in cardiac arrest. But in Staples Center's spotlight, he was in high spirits and totally engaged, according to a number of his collaborators. Energetic, optimistic and focused, Jackson gave no indication of what was to come, they said. Randy Phillips, chief executive of AEG Live, the concert promoter that will forfeit the more than $20 million it put into staging Jackson's comeback, was among those at Staples Center. "It was fantastic, he was so great. I got goose bumps," Phillips said. "It made me realise why I got into this business.

"I take great solace in the pride and confidence he exhibited during production rehearsals. That is the memory I will cherish for the rest of my life," Phillips said.

Ken Ehrlich, the longtime executive producer of the Grammy Awards who staged televised performances by Jackson half a dozen times, met with the performer at Staples on Wednesday to discuss a television project. "He was very warm and funny. He was having a good time," Ehrlich said.

After the meeting, the singer invited Ehrlich to stay and watch him rehearse. The show was still a work in progress, with props that Ehrlich recalled as "looking pretty magical" strewn about the venue's floor. Jackson seemed committed to the work but stopped short of putting his complete energy into the run-through, he said.

Watching the singer perform his hits showed Ehrlich Jackson's pervasive influence on a new generation of superstars: "The hair on the back of my neck stood up. I wasn't watching Justin Timberlake or Chris Brown or Usher or any of the hundreds of acts that have taken from Michael. The modern inheritors of his art. It was him."

10 Ways To Look Sexy

Every woman wants to look attractive and sensuous. And to look attractive you don’t really have to bare all. All you have to do is add a few unexpected touches and adopt some glamorous essentials. Are you wondering what these are? Well here are 10 ways to look stunning without sacrificing your modesty.

1. Wear something ordinary in an unexpected way.

Well that doesn’t mean that you have to wear your favourite dress inside out or tear your Mum’s saree and make a wrap around skirt with it. All you have to do is wear something ordinary which you would have worn anyways but in a slightly different manner. For example, take a basic man's white shirt (slightly oversized), unbutton it, wrap it so that one side overlaps the over and tuck it in.

2. Do red lipstick.

Pale lips may be trendy, but nothing does the job like red. Use lip-liner for a perfect appearance, choose a creamy matte in a red that best suits your skin tone. Use a light hand for the rest of the face because the lips should take center stage.

3. Accessorize with earrings.

Keep your makeup soft. Except shoulder-duster earrings don’t wear any other piece of jewelry. This look goes great with bare shoulders and updos.

4. Accessorize with scarf.

Nothing attracts attention than a scarf which will gel wonderfully with the dress you wear. Thus a lovely dress and a lovely scarf is a deadly combination.
5. Go monochromatic.

Black may be sexy, but this season monochromatic dressing is in vogue. Monochromatic dressing creates a vertical image that makes you look tall and slim instantly. Look for simple shapes (the story here is the fabric and colour, not the line of the outfit) and tones that flatter your skin color.
6. Adopt an exotic look.

A dress which has a historical and cultural value always draws attention. Bandhni prints, Rajasthani dresses, Harem pants and embroidered items all have ethnic looks with tons of feminine charm. The mandarin-collar dress from China is flattering, chic and always intriguing.
7. Wear shades.

Perhaps the single sexiest item you can own are a great pair of sunglasses. They add tons of mystery, look cute even on top of your head and actually serve the practical purpose of protecting your eyes.
8. A sexy back

If you have a sexy back then this is the time to flaunt it. Wear open back dresses which not only will make you look stunning but will also make a bold fashion statement.
9. Go for soft fabrics.

Make sure that the fabric you wear is soft to touch because they not only look sexy but also feels good to wear giving you confidence and an elegant look. Cashmere, silky satin, buttery soft suedes are the real scene-stealers.
10. Accessorize with a sexy handbag.

Pick a handbag that compliments your figure and dress.

UNDERSTANDING YOUR DRESSING SENSE:

Select your body type to find out how to dress -

Plump
Go for dark colours. You don't have to agonise too much about avoiding A-line cuts or silhouettes if you take care the cut is neat and the colour is not too bright or pale -expands your girth. If you must wear light shades than choose antiques - dirty blue, and not the sky blue. Blouses: cover your arms.

Medium
Beiges and fawns. Antique gold. These colours also suit all skin tones - so the ideal Indian colours. Anything goes with this body shape - be it the very in georgette saree or the out-of-fashion satin. Blouses: Nets can hide the folds in the arms.

Thin
Any colour. And that means you can wear all the colours of this season - the entire spectrum of vibgyor and the antiques - pinks, fawns, blues, golds. Blouses:straps are fine, while nets tease.

Your wardrobe is determined greatly by your value for:

Comfort
Comfort is a great thing but don't hide your assets in loose, drab and banal cuts all the time. If so, use bright colours and pretty prints to bring out your personality. And if you can't resist wearing the same old kurta every week because it has a soft feel to it then spike it up with a different dupatta, a fancy bag, or some bold makeup.

Style
Your wardrobe has items of clothing appropriate for any and every occasion. You dress up creatively, instinctively and originally. However you should be able to carry it off. For example, a tight outfit on a very fat body is mostly hideous. Good style is about complimenting you and the occasion.

Fashion
Are you a victim, do you see it in the magazines and it's yours? If so, then make sure to make your sprees worthwhile by purchasing things that are practical and lasting. Whilst shopping , buy clothing that is conducive to your style, mixable and classic as well.

Get adventurous with your sari. Dress it up with a blouse suits your style:

How would you describe yourself?
Shy/ traditional Stick to the safe classicism of a saree, with deep boat necks, deep square necks - and traditional shades of silver and gold.

Contemporary
Layered sarees, with double pulavs - incorporating the saree and dupatta into one piece. Bustiers and corsets double up as blouses.

Bold
Opt for saris worn like sarongs in soft and subtle fabrics, crystal embroidered corsets with unembroidered satin French lilly chiffon saris. Spaghetti-strap blouses. Criss-Cross blouses for you, with transparent georgette sarees.

Wearing Gold?
Make sure the colour's right for you. The difference between glowing and gaudy lies in a whisper of a shade.

What's your skin tone?

Latest Fashion Happenings

What's Latest In Fashion?
It can be embarrassing if you go to a party dressed in something that is not in vogue and the ironical part is, you are not even aware of it. Fashion keeps changing and is always evolving. What was fashionable two months back might become outdated today and something more chic will be in vogue. Therefore it is very necessary that you always keep yourself updated about the latest trends and styles.

To understand the fashion cycle you have to understand the fashion cycle. A trend comes into being and is labeled as a fashion item once it is sashayed down the ramp by models, or worn by celebrities at some function or award ceremonies and appreciated by the fashion pundits. Next you will see the trend everywhere, in fashion magazines, newspapers, internet, movies, and on TV. Finally, the trend becomes saturated in the market, usually at very low prices. This is the time when most of us will buy it and get the opportunity to flaunt the trend. But then its too late coz the trend now loses its appeal.

So how do you know how long a trend will last? A few general guidelines:

Generally speaking, most fashion trends stick around for at least a year. Some trends, usually the most understandable ones, last longer. One school of thought says that fashion cycles about every 20 years. Thus, the minis of the '80s have come back into favour now.

A big part of deciding on how long a trend is viable depends on where in the fashion cycle you bought the trend. If you bought it as a knock-off or at a discount store, then you should count on it being in for just one or two seasons.

Although there is no hard-and-fast rule about how long a fashion trend will stick around, you can bet that the more-difficult-to-pull-off looks (baggy styles, large cuff jeans) are just fads that will fade.

Buying power can keep a trend on life support. Sometimes consumers love a look so much they just won't let it die. Capris, crops and tank tops are all examples of former trends which actually became wardrobe staples.

The more radical the cut, color or print -- microminis, army jackets, mod graphics -- the more certain that the trend will be long over by the same time next year.

The best defense against quickly changing trends is to have a wardrobe stocked with mostly classic looks: jeans, T-shirts, blazers, little black dresses. Use trendy items as an addition to a core wardrobe to give it some kick

Fashion Advice:-

SEASONS give you a brief idea of what goes with each type of body shape

Broad Shoulders
Wide necklines, short sleeves and light fabrics help to visually reduce broad shoulders

Big Bustline
Never wear V-necks and scoop necks as they emphasise the chest size. High Necks, work well; combined with full sleeves they work even better.

Small Bustline
Empire Basques, V-Necks and bulkier fabrics create an illusion of a fuller bustline.

Heavy Arms
Always wear sleeves that are not fitted yet follow the body line. Avoid heavy and thick fabrics.

Heavy Hips
It is important not to wear fitted, short garments that emphasise your hips. Instead wear moderately loose and longer lengths in thicker fabrics to give a longer and leaner look

Seasons Basic Tips on fashion:-

Using colour to balance your body is a great idea. Wear light colours where you are small and dark colours where larger. For example, if you have large hips, wear dark skirts or pants and a light coloured blouse.
Wearing set-in sleeves with shoulder pads will help you to balance wide hips. The shoulder pads will add to your shoulders therefore balancing with your hips.
Don't choose clothes that are too tight. Clothes that fit well will make you appear slimmer while tight clothes will only add pounds.
Wear tops or dresses that have a scoop neckline with half or long sleeves to hide heavy arms and draw attention to the face and neck.
Clothes in solid colors with simple lines will make you appear taller.
Always break in new shoes before wearing them out for a special occasion
Wear straight silhouettes in a solid colour to hide a thick waist.
The skinner the stripe, the thinner you appear.
Don't wear black on a hot day or at a wedding.
A straight cut skirt and full leg pants will hide large thighs.
To appear shorter, jackets or tops should fall below the hips.
To lengthen your legs wear slim, straight leg pants.
To appear taller and thinner, try a pinstripe suit.
Long sleeves should hit just at the wrist bone.
When you are wearing a white shirt, wear a bra close to your skin color.
To hide wide hips, try an a-line style dress.
Give a new updated look to an old blouse or jacket by sewing on new buttons.
Pleats add pounds. If you want to look larger through the hips, wear pleats. If you don't, avoid pleats! · If clothes don't fit, have them altered. If they don't fit, they'll remain in the closet.
One of the biggest trends for spring is denim. You can find it in skirts, shorts, jeans, jackets, and shirts and even kurtas.
These are the basics measurements you need to find your correct bra size. With a measuring tape, measure around the torso at the underarm level and under the breasts. If the number is odd, add one to it. For example, if your measurement is 35, your bra size will be 36. Next, measure around your bust at its fullest part. Subtract the bra size from this number.
Pin a safety pin to the inside of your slacks in case of an emergency. If a button comes off or the zipper breaks you will be prepared.
Are your zippers sticking? Rub them with a lead pencil and they will slide smoothly.
When you buy an everyday item, try to think of at least three things you already own that you can wear with that item.
Choose your accessories wisely. Accessories can completely change the look of an outfit.
Women with larger hips should choose jeans that are generously cut through the hips with a flared leg.
When losing weight, don't wait to choose wardrobe pieces. Choose pieces that will camouflage problem areas

Fashion Myths:-

Beauty and fashion go hand in hand. The way you dress, the way you present yourself and the way you carry off your clothes depends on how much you know and relate to fashion. Sometimes we think that we know all about fashion but there are a few fashion myths that ought to be revealed.

Black goes with everything
False! Black works well with dark colours and neutrals although it looks best with another black item thrown into the mix instead of one random piece. Black also looks great mixed in equal proportions with white. But too much black is too harsh against pastel colours so a balancing act is needed. However, black can be your best friend if you want to look slim.
Big girls can't wear prints
False! Flattering dressing is all about balancing proportions. The safest tip to remember is to avoid extremes. This means that if you are bigger or smaller than average, don't wear huge loud checks or tiny ditsy florals. Instead, go for medium prints that are eye-catching without being loud.

Baggy clothes make you look slimmer
False! On the contrary, baggy clothes make you look fat. Waisted jackets, frill-edged skirts, scoop necklines and fitted tops are much more slimming than over-sized tunic tops.

Designer clothes are better quality and value
Some items like coats, tailored trousers and evening gowns are worth spending money on because the fit is key. Other things need not at all be such expensive designer stuff.

I've got nothing to wear
This negative attitude needs to be changed. Sort through your stuff and you're guaranteed to find at least three long lost friends that are due an airing. Look through magazines for new ideas about how to wear things and don't dismiss them until you've tried.

Must -Have Formal Dresses:-

Dressing up is an art and no matter how beautiful you are if you do not know the art of dressing up, your beauty will not be appreciated. You should know what to wear for a particular occasion. Following are a few formal dresses which you should have in your wardrobe.

Halter Dress

Celebrities turn to the halter dress for the red carpet because they know it's one of the sexiest formal looks around. Several variations exist, including a knot-front halter and a tie-behind-the-neck look; straps vary in size from spaghetti-width to wide, soft straps. The halter dress calls extra attention to the upper half of the body, including the face, shoulders and bustline.

Cocktail Dress

The cocktail dress is probably the most versatile of all special occasion looks. Although the little black dress is the universally accepted look for cocktail but don't just stick to black and experiment with different colour. Adjust the silhouette of the cocktail dress to work for your figure, keeping the top and waist slim and fitted for the elegant look.

Stand-Up Collar Dress

What better way to frame your face than with a stand-up collar? Choose a moderate or plunging neckline to compliment the high collar and pull your hair up or away from the face.

Embellished Dress

Head-to-beads are difficult to carry off, but a touch of embellishment is spectacular. Make sure your beading is on a part of your body you want to highlight, including the bodice, waist or neckline.

Off-the-Shoulder Dress

An off-the-shoulder dress instantly shows lots of skin, but not necessarily areas you might be uncomfortable showing like the lower back or cleavage. The silhouette of the off-the-shoulder dress adds width to the upper half of your body, balancing your lower half. This is definitely a dress for those who have the guts to bear and carry it off.

Corset Dress

Need an instant upper body lift? The corset dress will lift your breasts and whittle your waist, and look fantastic and edgy while doing it. You can choose a dress with a built-in corset for the bodice or opt for a separate corset top with a skirt. This look adds curves to slender figures and structure to fuller figures: it's great all-around for flattery.

Print Dress

A fresh flowery print dress is perfect for daytime occasions. Big bloom prints look good on most women, just be sure to scale them to your figure: larger women look best with the prints close together and less background space showing, the opposite is true for smaller women.

Spring-Summer Fashion Trends:-

The blazing summer sun is finally here, and it's time to heat things up a bit with this year's summer styles. Summer fashion is cool, trendy and vibrant with more accent on colour, prints and rustic style. With an emphasis on fabric, denim, tailoring, and patterns, this summer is all about being simple, getting colorful, looking relaxed, and going out in style.

MYTHS:-

Great skin is not just in the genes but also a result of how you treat it. Read on as we reveal some of the most common skin-care myths- and the truth behind them.

Myth: The black stuff inside blackheads is dirt.
Fact: The black inside a blackhead is not dirt, so it can't be scrubbed away. Dermatologists say the dark stuff is probably a combo of dead skin cells and sebum (oil) in a clogged pore that is open at the skin's surface, so the material inside oxidizes and turns darker when it's exposed to the air. To prevent blackheads, be sure to exfoliate.

Myth: A rinse with cold water and astringents can shrink pores.
Fact: Pore size usually depends on genetics, and people with oily skin tend to have larger pores. Toners help make the opening look smaller, but physically, it doesn't change. Balance out oily skin and minimize the look of pores with a good skin cleanser and oil-free lotion.

Myth: Drinking lots of water will hydrate your dry skin.
Fact: While it's true that dehydration can cause your skin to loose its sheen and look tired, it's also true that excessive intake of H20 won't necessarily lead to totally hydrated skin. Hereditary and environmental factors are additional reasons behind dry skin.

Myth: Working out can sweat away your acne.
Fact: Your pores do not extrude sweat- perspiration is the function of a different gland. Working out usually balances hormonal activity, leading to clearer skin. To keep your pores clean and free from debris, be sure to exfoliate regularly.

Healty Hair Tips And Remedies

Ensure that the hair that is forming beneath the surface of your scalp is healthy by avoiding too much of sweets, chocolates, cakes & cookies. Replace them with fresh fruits & vegetables

Brushing wet hair too harshly causes strands to break as they are weaker and more likely to break off. Detangle gently using a wide toothed comb after towel drying your hair.

Don't scrub hard when washing hair. Simply run your hands over your hair in the direction that the cuticle has grown i.e. from the root to the tip.

Healthy hair is the most beautiful. Apart from using the right shampoo & conditioner, indulge your hair once a while with a hair massage. A hair massage with some warm oil to which some Vitamin E has been added stimulates circulation, relaxes you and your hair!

Excessive hair loss, or brittle hair is a sign that the products you are using may not be for your hair type. Find the right product that suits your hair and protects it
from damage & breakage.

Itchy scalps are usually caused if your hair is dirty, greasy or has a build up of styling product. Make sure your hair is clean and healthy

HOME REMEDIES:-

Problem: Oily hair
Remedy: Wash frequently with a mild shampoo; also applying astringent like lemon juice will absorb excess oil from the hair.

Problem: Dry Hair
Remedy: Apply a combination of coconut milk (1 cup) and gram flour (2 tablespoons) on the scalp and massage gently. Rinse hair after 5 minutes.

Problem: Frizzy hair
Remedy: Massage with olive or almond oil is also good for dry hair types.

Problem: Dull, Lifeless Hair
Remedy: Drinking a combination of lettuce and spinach juice is good for healthy hair.

Problem: Damaged hair
Remedy: Washing hair periodically with white vinegar gives it a healthy glow.

MYTHS:-

All of us have a favorite hair care remedy we religiously follow and advocate to friends even. But are they really beneficial or just a myth? Here are some of the popular hair myths; some of them you may already know.

MYTH: Frequent trims make hair grow faster and stronger.
FACT: Hair grows almost exactly half an inch per month, no matter what you do or take. While hormonal changes may affect hair growth, the only thing a trim will do is help eliminate split ends and make your hair look better.

MYTH: If you pluck out one gray hair, two or three will sprout back.
FACT: We all have heard of this one; while this isn't true, plucking out those gray strands is a bad habit. You can damage the roots, causing infection or leave a scar.

MYTH: Brushing your hair often is good for it.
FACT: Too much brushing is bad for your hair, leading to split ends and hair breakage. By all means groom your hair, but once it is in place, STOP!

MYTH: Dandruff is contagious.
FACT: No. We all carry the micro organism that causes dandruff, it just isn't as active. On the other hand, be careful when using someone else's comb or brush, there are other things that you don't want on your hair.

Of course there are many more hair raising myths out there and it's best you get them confirmed by an experienced hairdresser or a trichologist. After all, it's your hair, treat them nice.
