'Even A woman Can rape A Man'

Anupam Ahuja, wife of film star Shiney Ahuja, arrested by the Oshiwara police for allegedly raping his maid on Sunday, held a press conference on Anupam Ahuja
Wednesday to declare her husband’s innocence.
Addressing media persons at Juhu Millenium Club, Anupam, through what seemed to be a wellrehearsed speech, reiterated that her husband was innocent and that he had been framed because of his popularity.
In a one-on-one chat with Mumbai Mirror she said, “I have known my husband since the past 15 years and he would never do such a thing. He has been framed. But I do not know who is doing this.”

When reminded that witness statements, medical reports and circumstantial evidence had all gone against him, she said, “Who has seen the reports. I do not believe what is appearing in the media.”

When this reporter asked what if the forensic tests turn out positive, Anupam said, “Can the sun ever rise from the west?”

During the press conference Anupam also said that the law was a little biased against men in such cases. “Even a woman can rape a man. But there are no provisions for such a situation in law,” she said.

Shiney’s Blood Samples Sent For DNA Test

Meanwhile, to ensure there is no doubt about the results of the forensic tests conducted in the case, the Oshiwara police has asked the Kalina Forensic Science Laboratory to conduct a DNA test on Ahuja’s blood and semen samples. Experts say a DNA test will conclusively establish whether Ahuja did indeed have sexual intercourse with his maid or not.

A senior officer supervising the investigations said, “Ahuja’s blood samples have already been sent for forensic examination. The FSL was conducting a group test to establish that Ahuja’s blood group matched that of the vaginal swab obtained from the victim. But, to be doubly sure, we have asked them to conduct a DNA test as well.”

Unfortunately, however, even as samples were sent to FSL, the entire DNA department of FSL, except the chief, has been transferred out of the city. An FSL source said, “Nineteen people were transferred on Wednesday. The DNA department is also almost empty. We are now trying to do some reshuffling and get some people in the department or else all work will stop.”

What this means is that the FSL report in the case, which was expected in a couple of days, may be delayed by at least a week or two
