Fans Blame Dhoni For India's No-Show

Angry fans blame captain cool MS Dhoni for India's no show, say the skipper's game was all over the place. It was a dismal performance by Mahi and his men at Lords' against the West Indies. We saw a different Mahnedra Singh Dhoni - not in form and miss fielding.

MS Dhoni's woeful form with the bat is beginning to tell on his performance not only as a captain but also as a wicketkeeper. The key lapses from the skipper perhaps eventually cost India the match.

It could be said that Dhoni's Sluggish batting choked the runs. Again, there was no plan for batsmen who came after Chris Gayle. Dhoni could also be blamed for not rotating the bowlers when Bravo was on fire. Again, Irfan Pathan was underused. Dhoni himself bad a bad day behind the stumps.

India might have lost their first Super 8 tie in the ongoing Twenty20 World Cup but Mahendra Singh Dhoni's boys can take heart from the fact that they lost their opening game of the Super 8 stage against New Zealand in the 2007 T20 World Cup, which they eventually won. Mark Gillespie's superb bowling guided the Kiwis to victory in that game and interstingly even in the last T20 World Cup India reached the semi-final only after beating England and south Africa in the Super 8 stages. So, it is hoped that they can repeat the pattern this year as well.

So it's do or die for India from now on if they have to stay alive in this tournament. They are up next against the hosts England who too face an exit from the competition if they lose to India on Sunday (June 14). So, it will be a thrilling encounter at Lord's.

And, if Dhoni's boys do get past the English test, they face the mighty Proteas to qualify for the semi-finals. South Africa have looked the most balanced side in the tournament and this clash may well decide the fate of Team India.

Key battle

The battle would surely hot up when Zaheer Khan's express pace tests Kevin Pietersen. Indians would surely be looking for this big wicket as the entire England batting line up revolves around Pietersen.

The battle between Yuvraj Singh and Stuart Broad is already etched in Indian cricketing folklore with Yuvi's six sixes still a nightmare for the Englishmen. MSD would surely be praying for a repeat.

The English captain would have to challenge the guiles of Harbhajan to give his team the upperhand. Both are experienced customers and the one who comes up triumphs would have a big effect on the game.

The battle between Suresh Raina and James Anderson will be interesting. The English strike bowler would surely be itching for the big wicket while Raina would look to take on him.
